Cava Train
In October 1,000 people from Barcelona board the Cava train bound for Sant Sadurní d'Anoia. Joined at the station by a hoard of carnival characters, including the prerequisite big heads and cabezudos, they are escorted with a glorious fanfare to the town hall and Cava Houses. After a tour of the cellars, followed by lunch and entertainment, they return to the Catalan capital.Public holiday in Spain. |

Patron Saints Alodia and Nunilon
Huescar has two patron saints, Alodia y Nunilon. They had a Moorish father and a Christian mother and, according to legend, died as martyrs because they defended the Christian faith. They have a Hermitage in the mountains of the Sierra de la Sagra. This is the main festival in Huescar, with a typical fun fair, live music, open air dances, bars set up outside and bull fights. |
